I'm sure it's been covered before but searches also turn up results for b/w/b, 20/20/20 which is discussed much more and easily done with a 1/16th" bit. Anyone using a .020/.020 around the rosette? I need to find a router bit! The purling is .04" Stewmac has a 3/64th" router bit that would be the closest to working. 3/64th = .0.046875" It seems the extra .0068 wouldn't even be noticable, especially considering the inconsistencies that purfling strips are, and even bits themselves it seems. I'm sure once glue is added and it swells it will be a perfect fit but comments and reassurance would be great! Thanks!!! |

I would use a normal 1/32" bit and take two passes at it, moving the bit out by 10 mil for the second pass. This will make a channel about 41mil wide, which will allow easy fitting of the purfling. Cheers, Dave F. |

http://bqtool.com/cart/index.php?cPath= ... 54cdddab21 I use the square end mills. They also have a .020 mill that you need to call to order. For rosetting I use a modified circle cutter that uses my die grinders. Todd Stock Made one from Lexan , he should post that picture , it is not that difficult to make and workds very well. |
