No. The design office and studio are in a seperate room from the main room with a weather sealed door between them....and they are TWO rooms away from finishing....which also has a weather sealed door.

It did take me years to learn to seperate the finshing room from my studio though.

I bought new mixer after new mixer until the day I realized that it was the nitro that was wrecking them. Same with the Les Pauls but THOSE got wrecked from cleaning nitro off of them with acetone. laughing6-hehe

Tell you what....stand on the corner of W. Adams and S. Hogan, hang a cardboard sign around your neck that says, "Will work for speakers", and I'd guess your odds will improve.

Soooooooooo it's a long shot right? laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

Way off topic for your thread but I just picked up a set old Polk Audio 5JR's for 40 bucks. I can remember my dad buying a set of these when I was a teenager. Great spreakers back then but even better now for the shop.

Okay...back on topic.

I see a lot of aluminum in those pics - and the CNC machine - can you CNC some jigs ? for a moderate price of course. I have some ideas....

I'd be happy to discuss that. Send me a PM with some details.

Are you a full timer or a part-timer?

Looks like a great setup - have fun!

Stuart, that looks great! I bet you'll have somefun there! Quick question. What do you mean, "the nitro was ruining the mixers"? Do you mean you were spraying nitro in the vicinity of your mixer, and that ruined them, or do you mean the nitro off-gassing did some damage?
I'm in a situation where I don't have to spray near my audio equipment, but the only (temperature controlled) place I have available to hang the gits until the nitro dries is in my studio.

Full time with guitars since the shop has been finished but I get other work too. Every now and then I get to do research projects in my previous field. The shop was built to accomodate both possibilities.

Sorry about the humor. I found it absurd that someone would believe I was finishing guitars inside a recording studio. I was being facetious with verhoevenc. I'm still learning the internet.

nice set-up stuart.
i think your studio needs some sound absorbtion stuff on the walls, like some foam egg-craty panels, as well as some movable
free standing baffles to stop sound from bouncing around against the walls.
my friends recording studio has a section of wall that has 2x4s and 2x6s vertical and alternating, stacked up next to each other
and that helps.

Yeah...when I captioned that pic "do you think I'll need any acoustic treatments?" I was joking. That room echos like a canyon....and I knew it would when I built it. :) I ususally mix with a series of headsets and then use those V-8 monitors as a reference also...but they are useless without some absortion panels. I got the plan that will make that room dead and put my head out of the bass nodes...but I have other priorities at the moment.
