Any thoughts for finishing?

Hello from Greece. After a year of hard work and much help from this forum i reached this point and wanted to share it. Also would need some advice for the finishing part. I have the dvd's "A Master in acoustic guitar" Chris Wynne is using danish oil and afterwards a wax for finishing the guitar. Is this a good way for finishing my first guitar or is it difficult to get a nice result or should i try shellac? Any other ideas would be appreceated Many thanks again for all the help i found in these topics. |

Wax would be a very poor finish with little protection. Shellac would be a much better choice, particularly if you apply it in the French polish way. |

It sure is an exciting moment Ian!! Can't wait to put my fingers on her! Darrel is shellac easy to use, cause i don't want to destroy her after all these endless hours... Thanks Yiannis |

^Shellac is very gentle to beginners. If you aren't happy with the job you did, just scrape it off and start over. Takes awhile and it isn't as durable as say poly or lacquer, but you won't ruin a guitar using it, that's for sure. ![[:Y:]](./images/smilies/smiley20.gif "Thumbs Up")

I'd definitely personally choose French polished shellac over Danish oil and wax. It partially depends how careful you will be with the guitar after it's done, however.
