Tracy and Steve sent me the pair of little planes. Again this year, Iowa is like a tropical rain forest. I was going to seal with LV's hardening (polymerized) oil. Comments? With my Hock chisel, my un-numbered little antique Stanley "finger" size plane and these, I feel pretty well equipped to enjoy doing braces.mt |

I've had mine for a while and use it the way I got it. Seems to be just fine. I guess if you want to seal it you could. |

They do not need any finish ! As Todd stated -use them and your own body oils will make them shine ! I have 2 of these beauties -they are just incredible works of art ! I use them to do jobs that a large plane would not be able to get into ! I love them ! ![]() Mike |

Thanks Mike, and everyone else for the generous comments! Yes, these are great little planes, that don't really need a finish. But if you want to you can. I leave mine with no finish, but you are welcome to finish it. A gel varnish would probably be just fine, but Linseed Oil would be okay too. Have fun using it! |

If I were to finish it I would use Tung oil or linseed oil. You really should not need a finish especially as it is so small but it would look nicer with a little oil. Thanks to everyone who has purchased one of my mini-planes. We have sold over 100 of them! Frankly I am shocked. |

Thanks to all-they are such finely crafted little jewels. I sweat like a stevedore so that will naturally occur. I just thought a bit of sealant might keep wedge more consistent, for instance. And thanks for reminding me about the inside sealing thread. That is what I was hoping to do-just slow the RH impact. A nice little glow would be kinda purty too.mt |
