Hi

I was too eager to glue the braces I forgot to cut the the shape first, do you think it will cause any problems ?

No. You cut it oversized anyways...

No problems. It's easy enough to trim back, braces and all on a band saw.

This shouldn't cause you any problems. If you are using a band saw, and you put a curved profile on
the braces, you'll need to hold the back such that the edge being cut is sitting flat on the table- otherwise
a tooth might catch and yank the back down against the table, or break a chip out. Other than that, I
think you're fine.

I can't imagine why it would be a problem. I've been letting my braces overhang the top/bottom outline before gluing and then trim them on the bandsaw, this should be pretty much the same.

edit: wow, talk about instant answers laughing6-hehe

I recently started to do it that way intentionally.

How you trim the edge all depends on your back gluing method. If you are using clamps with purely downward pressure, it's OK to leave some extra (1/4") at the edge. This also make the trim cut less critical as regards to chipping.
If you are using elastic bands or cord to apply pressure, that extra lip will lever up the joint and prevent a good bond. In this case the back needs to be trimmed as closely as possible to the side profile.

I've made far far worse mistakes than that in my excitement in building guitars :D

Like most mine are always oversized too. Quick trip to the band saw boom done.
