Hi
First of all I'd like to thank you guys for all the advise and knowledge you share with us [:Y:]

My question: I am about to bend a birdseye maple set but have noticed that a small? knot won't fall out of the template area as I thought it would. It looks stable to me, but I've never bent a single side.......

So what should I do?
Bend the side and ignore the knot.
OR
Bend the side and use some CA on the knot after it's been bent or before.

Thanks for your help :D

Greetings,
Florian

Those are good options. Another is to really see if you can get it outside the needed area. The common way to measure the raw sides is from the top of the top to the back of the back. But really, you do not need it that wide. After assembly, you are going to remove about 1/4" from the top and another 1/4" from the back for bindings (or whatever depth you use). You can just leave part of that out in the first place, and extend the linings past the edge of the rough sides. So, maybe you could safely knock 1/4" off the raw width of the sides.

I personally try and include small knots like that when I can . It does add more challange. However it " Imho" adds characture to the finished unit. [:Y:]

Thanks a lot guys! bliss

I'll bend the wood and will fill the knot with CA when it comes to finishing it.

Greetings,
Florian
