Will I find the curvy scraper useful? Or am I better off saving a few bucks and ordering straight scrapers only?

I have not used it - because I am too lazy to sharpen it - but yes it is useful - I am not done the complete guitar yet so I may still sharpen it and use it -
scrap around neck, headstock, body curves, small detail scraping.... buy it. get a medium thickness set - it will be easier to use, and a cabinet scraper holder - makes a world of difference.

thanks. I found a decent set a little cheaper at woodcraft, and a holder too.

I bought this set of little scrapers, and I use them all the time. I don't recall if I bought them here or somewhere else, but either way, they are great. I particularly use the small rectangular ones and the little oval ones. great for detail work.

Anyone want to define what thickness is "medium" for a scraper? 0.028"?

I've had a goosneck scraper for years and have never even bothered to sharpen it 'cause I never saw a use for it.

I do round off the corners of most of my card scrapers to prevent gouges.

I like the Lee Valley scrapers, they seem to hold an edge better than the Bahco or Two Cherries ones.

My favorite card scrapers, for general use, other than above, are the Lie Nielsen scrapers. They come ready to use, sharpen easily, and hold a burr better than any of the others I have. Two to a package for $15 is not out of line for good scrapers. One thick and one thin. Both are very useful.

I prefer to use the thin ones most of the time. .016" and .024"

I believe .028 qualifies as medium.
