Had a vacation day on the books and planned on spending some time in the shop, but our new puppy who is seven week old, is needing a whole lot of attention. So I rented a movie off netflix and watched it in between entertaining and taking the new puppy outside. The movie was The Red Violin, which came out in 1998. If you haven’t had a chance to see it I would recommend you check it out. It tells the story of a violin from it’s making in Italy to present day, where it is being auctioned off. Does anyone know of any other movies that have luthery in the story line? |

There is a movie about piano making at Steinway that is supposed to be very good. |

Yeah, Red Violin is a good one..... taped it back when I was making a violin! Worth a watch! The Stienway documentary is called Note by Note, also good (just to see the guy chopping out the bridge)! |

Un Coeur en Hiver (A Heart in Winter), with Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Beart. The lutherie aspect is seemingly small but still significant. One of my favorite films. Early 90's, iirc. |
