Just got the smaller versions of the photo shoot of this guitar.
Let me try this one full frontal and see how it goes.

Thanks,

Is that a 3 sided pyramid on the bridge? I like it! [:Y:]

That's a beaut. Very clean work Steve. The white purfling is a bold contrast. Where do you get it from? I don't think I've seen it that thick. Did you mask off or just scrape after you did the burst? However you did it, it sure looks good. Cool looking bridge and much nicer photos this time.

Many thanks fellas!
Ok, some answers:
Haans, yes sir indeed that is a 3-sided pyramid. I was trying to recreate the bridge on my Grandad's old guitar, which approached the pyramid like that. Does this style have a name, or recognizable point of origin-- say, Larson, Stella, whatever?

Danny, that bold line is fooling the camera...it's not really that bold. It's simply violin purfling, from International Violin Supply, in the b/w/b format. And yes, you do mask this off before the color coats go on.

I think I've got the rosette ready:

Sorry Steve, I just drooled all over your guitar. Even if you don't clean it up that guitar will look unbelievably cool.
Got any closeups of the detail on that bridge?

Steve, that is so elegant and cool! I'd love to play this little beauty. I really like the burst on this one, and the way the flame on the back peeks through just enough to show its beauty. It almost looks like a spot light in the middle of the back and top, which gives it a 3D effect. Great job!

Much appreciated gents! Your kindness is always encouraging.
Ok, for Tim, a closeup of the bridge. Mind you, we're back to my shoddy photography for this shot...but you asked!

Absolutely gorgeous work Steve. I just walked in from putting some pearl in #4's rosette and saw the closeup of yours. It's always inspiring to see that kind of craftmanship. Heading back to the shop now!!!

Simply stunning Steve .. a real piece of art there ... the burst at the tail wedge is .. well .. I cant even think of a word that describes it...... so magnificent will have to do .

I've never seen anything like that bridge Steve, Larsons have the top of the pyramid cut off and a lot of times they inlayed stars or shamrocks. Most pyramids I've seen are either full pyramids or rounded on the inside, but having the point in the middle. It's a very clever design though!

Steve, I'll say it again, unbelievable work. Bridge looks like Braz? Bet it sounds killer.

Jeepers guys! Thanks so much.
Thanks for the historical perspective, Haans.
Tony, Dave too, let me thank you for your effusive words, but in the interest of full disclosure, let me 'fess up--Tony Ferguson did the burst. Ain't he somthing?
Tim, the bridge is indeed Braz. I'm glad some of the grain shows in the finished product...it's a dark piece.

You guys are wonderfully kind.

Steve

Nice guitar. I really like the bridge design. IME the "wings" on pyramid bridges can get kinda weak. I suspect your design eliminates this.

How big is the guitar?
