a freind of mine asked me to make him a couple sound hole covers that match the wood of his guitars as the rubber ones dont fit (and are god awful ugly) can someone direct me to where I go about doing this? thank you in advance! |

This is to try to reduce feedback in a stage situation? Black actually looks more 'natural, but anyway- I'd probably go for a chunk of soft foam with a piece of flexible veneer stuck to it. Just fold the veneer, insert the whole thing through the soundhole and let the sponge push the veneer against the soundhole. I do this sort of thing with a plastic lid and a sponge when spraying finishes on guitars. It won't do much for the acoustic sound, but that's not the point, I guess. Cheers John |

I've made several for soundholes that aren't the "standard" 4". Use whatever kind of wood you want (or even a piece of formica). Cut it 1/4" to 3/8" bigger than the soundhole. Notch it for the fingerboard if necessary and glue a piece of carpet padding to keep it in the soundhole. If you cut the padding right it will snap into the soundhole easily, but stay it. Edit/Added. I'll be making one next week. I'll post a picture. |
