Getting me a good drumsander Been using my homemade one , but its time to get me a real good machine.
question is, will I benefit from buying the new 22-44 "OSC" ? or is it just throwing money in the toilett?.

Howdy Cowboy Lars! ;)

I currently have the 16-32 non oscillating. If it were in my budget, I personally would get the 22-44 OSC because the benefits seem to be ... well ... beneficial! :D The OSC type drum sanders help to prevent heat and buildup on your paper thus extending the life and minimizing time loss. The wide belt sanders are still the best buy but one worth having would run more than twice the cost and up from there.

Tim Spittle at Australian Tonewoods has one, and when I was at his place back in February he was very disappointed in the oscillation mechanism. I got the impression that it was a huge mistake and waste of $$$. Email him and ask him more about his experience with it.

Just one more thing to go wrong with a tool. Man, I would be SO happy with a 16 or 22! (no oscillation)

Thanks alot for the replies.
Allen I will send Tim an email [:Y:]
Haans, I agree with your pop. I am not sure if the OSC machine is better though, thats my puzzle. I might just agree with what Mike said - one more thing to go wrong with a tool.
