Post subject:  Decorative Bone Nuts & Saddles Questions

I looking to jazz up a few areas of my builds and one of the items on the list is finding some way to make the bone nuts and saddles 'snazzier'. While I agree, bone looks pretty good, especially if it's unbleached bone...I like to be a little different sometimes.

What mediums would go well between two pieces of bone, say for saddles? Ditto for the nut.

How would one glue them together?

Thanks!
Chris

Yes...brass would also look great with the gold evo fret wire and gold tuners.

I just finished a parlour guitar & used black Corian for the nut & saddle. Looks great & polishes up like jewelry.

Regarding shell (MOP)....wouldn't you lose the look of it when u turned it on it's side for laminating between bone?....unless you were saying do the whole nut and saddle in MOP....that sounds expensive.

I'm using black horn for my first build. Its looking pretty good right now, but won't be able to string it up until at least friday so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it sounds.

Bill I've used horn and found it be softer...didn't like it as much...a personal preference thing.

I have African Blackwood and Ebony here at the house so I can use that to laminate between pieces of bone.

Thanks for the input folks!
Chris
