I sand to ~2000 grit and don't buff. Sometimes I'll use 0000 steel wool too.

I can't answer. I finish mine neck off. There isn't really any nooks and crannys.

Your's is a Spanish Heel classical????

LMI sells McFadden flattening paste. It works great.
