Post subject:  Making plans

Hey guys, I'm going to have access to a some nice archtops (L-5, Benedetto and an ES-?) this weekend and I would like to make some plans off of them. I know how to get the arching, outline and neck profile but I'm not sure how I can measure many of the internals like brace height/width etc. Any hints?

Buy or borrow a Hacklinger gauge if you want to record the plate's thickness and graduation. Some folks have successfully built their own, I don't know how difficult it is to make them work. Sm sells the original, which appears to be about $10 of parts with a $400 price tag, but it is reported to work perfectly.
