I finished this one a couple weeks ago, but just got around to taking pictures. Specs: Back and sides: osage orange Top: sitka spruce. I got it on ebay dirt cheap because the two pieces are not bookmatched... ![]() ![]() Neck: mahogany Headstock veneer: osage orange burl Fingerboard and bridge: ebony The binding is black walnut. Finish is nitro laquer. I got lazy and didn't sand and buff the finish. Instead, I used fine steel wool on the top to produce a satin finish, and left the rest of the guitar as-sprayed. ![]() ![]() The neck is 2" wide at the nut. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest. I think the sunlight was too direct.... |

That's a graceful, warm and welcoming instrument Phillip. Just calls out to be played. Well done. |

Great work ![]() That's a gorgeous back, and I like the touch of green in the rosette. That soundhole looks tiny though. How does it sound? |

Thanks, guys, for the comments. I had wondered about the size of the soundhole, so I'm glad you mentioned it. What effect would a too small soundhole have? The trebles sound great, but the wound strings are less "bright" than I would like. |

Nice guitar. Suggestions would be to go ahead and level sand and buff the finish to remove the orange peel. Also, why did you install the tuners upside down? Probably not a functional problem, but it would look better installed correctly. |

Probably not a functional problem, but it would look better installed correctly. Thanks for the input! If I were selling the guitar, I would certainly "finish the finish". But I'm keeping this one, and the orange peel doesn't bother me. Although, if it would improve the sound to sand some of the finish off, then it might be worth doing. What do you all think? The tuners are upside down because the bottom set is too close to the scarf joint, and wouldn't have been able to sit flat. Another mistake to correct on the next one. ![]() Keep it coming guys. While I certainly appreciate the atta'boys, I know that this early in my guitar making, what I really need is constructive criticism. ![]() |

Looks great! i really like the "bookmatch" or "partline" look that the headstock vaneer has! I also love the wood selection on the back and sides. I'm still working on #1 but i love seeing other peoples work, helps me come up with ideas for down the road. ![]() Was the body and neck sizing modeled after a particular design or did you come up with the design yourself? |

Looks Great ![]() than just a straight bookmatch. I'm going to have to try Osage Orange, it's a really pretty wood. How does it sound? |
