I know a lot of you read other lists so I apologize for posting this everywhere but I do need some information. A client brought in a Vincente Arias the other day and we are trying to figure out if it is the same one which was exhibited in Italy in 2008. What I need is someone who has this book http://www.ilsalabue.com/lang1/the_guit ... ieces.html who can check the Vicente Arias there and maybe scan a photo of it. Any pictoral references at all of Arias' guitars would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Thank you David! John, the guitar is not in my shop now and I don't know if it will be coming back but I will try to get some shots of it. I looked inside and saw that it has a double back with a half-dollar sized hole at about the centre of the interior back.

For anyone interested in Vicente Arias, there is some info and some decent photos of an 1899 guitar here: http://guitarcollection.blogspot.com/

I have a particular interest in the work of Arias, and the decorative work that he did is very inspirational!

In issue No. 5 of Roseta, the journal of the Sociedad EspaƱola de la Guitarra, an article was published dealing with a guitar made by Vicente Arias...

I have finally obtained permission to translate and publish this article. You will find it in the post of October 2. http://www.granadaexpert.com/johnray/

I am amazed at how easily you could move that soundboard in the video. I thought you were going to push a hole through it!

As mentioned in the article, this is by far the most flexible top I have ever seen, no surprise as the Hacklinger gave a reading of 1.6mm. I am making a copy but I somehow doubt that I will dare to take it down to 1.6. At the risk of repeating myself, the amazing thing is the virtual absence of bellying after so many years.
