Normally I would not post pics of the same guitar twice but I promised that when the weather got better I would take some shots under the "big" light and post them. Not being a very good photographer I do much better outside so hopefully these pics will look better.

Here is the setting near where I live in Michigan. This tree was a pretty big one for this area and caught my eye as a cool backdrop for some pics:

Hesh: VERY VERY nice guitar....!Congrats..! Wonder if the top binding is ebony or some other black wood or is that part of the top decore? Also wonder if you do your own finishing?Find that as hard or harder then the carpentry work.

Looks fantastic still Hesh. I know you're not trying to taunt me or try to push me into doing one just because I asked about it in another thread beehive

Hesh,

What a great job (as usual)! I might not use the wood on the first photo since it appears there may be some checking. laughing6-hehe

Another Beautiful Dreadnut! Just wondering if your models are starting to sound consistent Hesh? Like do all your SJ's sound like a flushtone, all your dreads the same too? Way to go! So what's up next?

Thanks everyone!

Yep Jamie thanks for pointing out that this is one of Joe White's most excellent polyester finishes!

Tracy - sure, all of my guitars sound as if they are related now with similar characteristics. This dread surprised me though because I was on the fence thinking that I would NOT use my own bracing and instead use scalloped bracing since this is a dread and should sound much like a dread. But in the end I went with my own bracing out of curiosity and sure enough it still sounds like a dread.... :? That surprised me. Not being critical of a dread sound I just was surprised that the bracing did not have more influence on the resulting tone.

Philip I'm going to resaw all of the grey checked wood and sell it as BRW in the next swap meet.... :D

Tom buddy the bindings on the top side are ebony and as such don't need to be painted. The binding on the back are cut-offs from the sides and meant to disappear - hence stealth bindings. My design goal for these black-tops is to use care to not have too many design elements compete with the highly figured wood and/or black tops so I use wood bindings but hide them in an effort to understate. No purfling is used either and even the rosette has only a single .010 koa line framing the sapele rosette.

Link this guitar was loud right off the bench and really has not changed much. I doubt if it has been played an hour though and black shows scratches so easily that it now lives in it's case.

Thanks again everyone! :)

Hey Hesh, I just put a set of Black Diamond strings on my Martin. They are black strings! I thought it would pretty much be just a visual novelty, but they are in fact quite nice strings. Just a thought if you think they would complement your black/stealth themed instruments, which btw I find superb in their refined taste.

Peace,
Sanaka
