Post subject: | Need help with UST problem |
Hi All, I've got an Epiphone Master Built series guitar with a Braggs UST that came stock. The high E string has never really come through strong. The B is nice and bright and then the E gets quiet, really unplayable like that. I have had 2 different saddles, played with shims, fltness at the bottom of the bridge yadda, yadda, never getting good results. Has anyone had a similar problem they were able to cure? I also have 1 dead fret (the 7th or 8th, don't remember) on a J-45 I made and for the life of me can't "see" anything wrong. Bad string? Dave |

How's the break angle over the saddle for the dead string? Ramping the pin hole for a better break angle might help. IMHO Baggs pickups are among the hardest to balance. Re the dead fret on the J-45. I had one (13th fret on a 1964 J-50) that I couldn't fix after a re fret. I finally removed the fret and installed (another) new one, and it was fine. I suppose it wasn't seated, but I couldn't fix it. |
