Good Morning,

Bought a real nice walnut B&S recently and was wondering if anyone has paired POC with walnut for a build?

Thanks,

Ray

First guitar I made from scratch was Black Walnut/POC. Haven't seen or played it for over 3 years but the POC top was extremely resonant and the guitar sounded good almost immediately. If I remember right the POC focus was mainly in the mids. Although the rage right now seems to be either a Redwood or Cedar top on Walnut, I would use the combo again. POC tonally should fall between the softer tops somewhere. One nice thing about it is that it is real tough stuff and is very crack resistant. Light weight, easy to work and smells good also. I use it for my back strips and support strips on the rims.

I have paired western red cedar with American black walnut in both size-0 parlour and OM body styles with good results. The walnut tends to be a bit punchy so the cedar takes just a bit of the edge off that and makes it real sweet.
