After building 5 guitars without a proper guitar vice I was happy to see mention of a "Troji" in one of Hesh's recent threads. A bit of research uncovered Rod True's excellent plans and build guide. So here it is! The only mod was to drop the shelf 2" for better access to the heel and tail.

You're welcome Robbie! I'm glad that plans getting used. Can't remember if I gave John Abercrombie credit in the plans or not, but he was the one who kind of started it all as he gave me some basic measurements off his so I could draft it up. Thanks John ![[:Y:]](./images/smilies/smiley20.gif "Thumbs Up") What I like best about the troji is that fact that you can work at the guitar from 4 sides. Ya, it sure takes up some shop space but I was willing to give that up for 4 side access. Looks great Robbie. |

Hey Mike - I couldn't agree more. I finished mine this morning then cleaned up the sides on my current build getting ready for cutting the binding channel. What a difference! After having used one I couldn't imagine not having something similar for all future builds. |

There was a website that used to sell these. I have been unable to locate the site. Does anyone know where I might purchase a Troji. I would rather not build one at this time. |

Steve, I don't think you can purchase these any more. Mark Kett use to make these but I think he's strickly doing inlay work now. Don't know of anyone else who use to make one of these. |

Rod, it has been a number of years since I saw the Troji for sale ( the first time I had ever heard of one). The web site sold hide glue, digital scales, etc. They also sold a very unique binding chanel cutting device. Anyway, would anyone like to build one to sell? |

Steve- I think shipping cost would be pretty high for something like a Troji- what part of the construction is causing you concern? (BTW, you can make a serviceable troji that isn't quite as attractive as the excellent example seen above!) Cheers John |

I know I could build one. I have just come to a stage in my life where I would rather build guitars than jigs and tools. If there is a lutherie tool available for purchase, I will usually buy it rather than make it. The Troji seems like a wonderful tool. I may have to build one. But if someone has one for sale, I don't think the shipping costs would deter me getting it. |

Rod, thanks for the drawings of the troji you built. It sure made it easy for me to build one. I saved the drawings when you posted them, but finally built one about a month ago. Should have built one right off, sure is a big help! Chuck |
