Hello,

I am on my 5th french polish instrument and can't for the life of me get an 'acceptable' application around the fingerboard, sound hole, and heel. I was thinking about airbrushing a few coats on those trouble areas and then proceed with with the padding sessions. Has anyone tried this? Or are there any tips on working with a small or specific specific pad to get in the tight spots.

I am having trouble finding information on this specific technique. Actually if anyone has photos of their finish in these areas that would be helpful. I may be being too picky.

I really want to figure this out. I love the rest of the french polish process and the finish it produces.

Thanks in advance!

_Mike

This is why many makers finish the body with the neck and bridge not yet attached. Inside corners are the bane of the finisher.

Yeah I know...

Unfortunately I haven't tried a dovetail or bolt on neck yet. That's my next project. I have been building nylon stringed instruments lately with Spanish heels.
