I recently met a young man that wants to buy a guitar from me. I had a mahogany and adi L-00 almost ready to paint sitting around. He wants that one, however, there is a fly in the ointment. As he owns a tattoo parlor he is interested in having his people paint it. He wants dragons and cherry blossom branches and Lord knows what else all over it. To provide the best base for the artwork I would like to bleach the mahogany several shades lighter, after bleaching I would go ahead and pore fill to provide a smooth base for painting, then I would clear coat everything afterward. 20 years ago (maybe) a pickled finish on furniture and cabinets was fashionable. does anyone have any tips on lightening up the brownish/red of the mahogany? Something compatible with zpoxy?
