It's been a busy week for me with neck resets in the Ann Arbor shop and not much time at home to get into my own shop.... But that's improving.... ![]() ![]() This box is ready for binding and I hope to get to it this weekend: Attachment: DSC02962.jpg The purflings are b/koa/b and the idea at least as far as my being turned onto this combo came from Brock. He sent me some that he had made up several years ago. I liked them so very much I had a batch made up too. Attachment: DSC02963.jpg Here I was thickness sanding the bindings to about .080: Attachment: DSC02959.jpg So... let's see what's happening in YOUR shops this week please? Thanks! ![]() |

Had a new arrival which has kept me busy along with building coops for the last ones i got in feb. I did get a butt wedge put in my last guitar box for this winter. Hesh buddy, i'm at the same stage as you. I now have to bind all five boxes i made this winter as soon as i close the last one.It still needs braceing though so it will be a little while yet. Her's a pic. of the new arrival. |

Sure I'm a newbie builder with only one guitar under my belt. But I'm currently building #2 and #3 simultaneously. in the last 'what's happening' thread I posted pics of #2, the 00. this week I have been working on #3, the OM. I glued the back on early this week. The last couple of days I've been working on the top bracing. I'll glue the top on tonight or tomorrow. I had major things happen on guitars #1 and #2 that I had to back up on and correct. so far guitar #3 has been 'flawless.' so far. |

I'm judging a woodcarving show this weekend and the organizer told me they gave me a display table if I want it. So.....I spent yesterday coming up with a quicky display stand for my carved guitar and banjos. I've been thinking about building an enclosed cabinet, but time has not offered me that option. Kent |

I glued the neck on the 000 12 fret and double checked the bridge location and buffed the bridge this morning. I plan to finish buffing the Bubinga wedge and add some braces to the D top in my go bar deck. I will glue up the bridge on the 12 fret after supper and start the setup on it tomorrow. I will have some photos soon. Fred |

I have been working on thicknessing the tops I have - this one is the Lutz top - for a classical - I have cedar top I will attack this weekend or on Monday. I got the Lutz top around .09 average. Should I leave it here and then count on the finish sanding to get it to around .085 ? The other picture shows the sides I bent a couple of weeks ago. I also made the drying rack a couple of weeks ago. |

I like everyone's work! Who doesn't love a tele ![]() ![]() I am working on this archtop telecaster hollowbody prototype. Made molds for laminating the plates and jigs for getting everything so my 17 Y/O son can crank the bodies out for college cash. There will be different pup configurations, this one will be double humbuckers with the TOM bridge and stop tailpiece. Another design will be for a flat tele classic bridge and tele bridge pup with a neck tele. Another is double P90 for the BLUES. There will be solid block almost through the center like and ES 335 Gibson. The choice of wood should make it sound different. Ash for a tele sound, Maple for the 335 crank etc... Who doesn't love a tele ![]() ![]() |

Arnt and Pat- those are Beautiful guitars ![]() ![]() ![]() wood selections. I've been working on setting up a new buffer, getting the parts assembled for a PID-based controller for the bending jig, and working on my OM #5, mahogany with bloodwood appointments. This is the first guitar I've really worked on Chaldni patterns on both back and face. |
