I have taken possession of a shiny new Fox Bender (thanks John!)
I have my own shape I would like to build a bending pattern for.
How much undersize should I go to account for springback?

Thanks!

I go 3/8-1/2" on the ends only, smooth it out (tapered arch?) to the upper and lower bout peak. I don't do anything at the waist.

As far as undersize for the blanket slats etc, I go about 1/8" offset from the body mold for the bending form.

If you're building with an outside mold springback really isn't much of an issue. At least not for me. I make my forms the exact shape of the mold.

I make my forms smaller than the mold by the thickness of the rim (average) + thickness of the inner slat. If you put the heating blanket on the bottom, then I would also subtract the thickness of the blanket.
