I have been given a few chunks of iroko. well, I say given. I've been dumpster diving again!! anyway, this stuff is hard as nails and I'm aware of it being famous for blunting tools..... it's used as a teak substitute, but could it make fretboards as thats the sort of sizes I have....... |

The Iroyko I have worked with is indeed very tough stuff. Not sure about using it for a fingerboard due to the very large pores and rough feel. Great for making tools with, stuff like marking tools and perf cutters. -jd |

I wouldn't recommend it. Iroko is tough but not all that hard or dense, in my opinion. I think that it would get dirty looking pretty quickly as well unless you finished it with something. But do you really want a fingerboard with finish on it on an acoustic guitar? |
