Finally got around to making a couple of recordings of my #1 which was completed in January.

Need to work on the setup but overall I'm very happy with this little fella'.

I owe a lot to this forum for helping me through this build so: Many, many thanks...

Mark

Mark,

Great sounding guitar! As much of it seems to be due to your playing as to the guitar itself. Are you trained as a classical guitarist? Beautiful!

Congrats',
Max

No but thanks for the reminder, I'll post some now, blemishes and all.

Yeah, I'm a little rusty but that is what I studied in college. Still not sure how I thought I was going to make a living doing that (I'm a consultant for large datacenters now)

- Back/Sides: Cherry from Jesse Burge in Ms
- Binding: Holly from Burge
- Top: "Red Bear Bridge Stringer" (DaCosta "Kermodie" Spruce). Apparently this used to be part of a bridge's support structure and was reclaimed.
- Neck: Honduras Mahogany
- Pyramid bridge & fretboard: I. Rosewood
- Finish: Shellac via French Polish
- 24.9"

Next up: J45, without Dovetail or French Polish so that I can finish in less than a year :)

Hi Mark,
Thanks for posting the pictures....That is really nice for your first!

I have built three ditsons myself. Just got done this weekend doing some brace carving and revoicing on my first one that I built a little over a year ago...It was over braced when built...I was totally amazed at the outcome in tone and sound. Fun project and seemed to learn a little from the experience!

Congrats on a nice #1 and again your playing!

lol.
Ditson: A dreadfully absent-minded guitar
Dotson: Not a great car, but what a guitar!

Hey Mark,

Great looking and sounding little guitar. Cherry/Lutz really is an amazing combination on these litle guitars!

Glad to hear you finally finished her up!

Sounds like you gotta get going on that J-45 build -- Mine is going pretty slowly as well.

Thanks

John

Thanks John.

Yeah, I'm so far behind on the J-45 build schedule that mine is going to be more of a buld-alone. I'll check in on LF to see your progress.

Have a good one,
Mark
