OK, I am experiencing some painfull, expensive lessons with this type of tuner. Someone please tell me how you succcessfully load the strings without slippage? Mike |

I just get 3 or 4 wraps around the tuner before feeding it through the hole and then wind very slowly until it bites. With the bass strings I just get maybe 2 wraps depending on the gauge. been a while since I owned a steel string slot-head, but it always worked for me. |

Maybe it's because I have had 4 slotheads but over the past 5 years but I have evolved back into the more simple method of stringing in the following manner: 1) Anchor the string ball in the bridge. 2) Pass the string over the tuner and clip at one tuner post north. 3) Bend the last 1/2" of the string past 90*. 4) Pass the bend through the shaft hole and keep tension on the string. 5) Wind while keeping tension and position its exit to pass as straight as possible toward its nutslot location. 6) I shoot for about 3 windings on wound strings and 5 on unwound. I still use the locking method on vertical posts but have found the simple slothead method described above to work in all situations post stringing. I think keeping tension on the string throughout its winding is the key in getting it to grab. |

If by "locking method" u mean making sure the string gets wrapped over, I am now doing that, much better grab. |
