I've looked through the very useful tutorials section and have not found a toot on what for me remains a challenging mystery - how to fret the guitar and create an end result which is prefessional - grade. I've gotten to the point where I can set them up so there are no buzzes and the action is right, but edges are still sharp, and especially in winter (dry) the fretboard shrinks to the point that the edges of the tangs are visible, and worse, can be felt when playing. I've tried filing the edges but, even when I was attempting to be very careful have ended up with noticable grooves in the fret board. Who's got a good suggestion for tutorial or other source of good technique? Thanks! |

Have a look at Frank Ford's site, they're refrets but the method is the same. Refretting Technique Filling the edges is done longitudinally, not fret by fret. |

I think the Kinkead book has a beautifully photographed explanation on fret dressing. Ron |
