i thought id use CA to glue the binding on #2. i got everything nice and tight using rubber bands to hold it all together and then i applied the CA. it turned out really well. no gaps and way easier than using titebond. why it didnt occur to me that the CA would glue the rubber bands to the guitar is beyond me. its all going to clean up real well i think, but i ruined a bunch of stew mac rubber bands. do those of you who use the rubber band system only use titebond, etc.? any other tips or tricks? |

well, i think my next go around i will use a pipe bender to bend the binding to get a better fit than with a fox bender. otherwise, i need the rubber bands to get things tight enough. thanks for the heads up on the 3M tape, laurent. |

Tape can really pull wood fibers up. I find that putting a coat of shellac on first helps alot in that department.

I use the Tightbond and cotton rope method. A bit of tape to start it but always rope it off. Seems to me that if you bend the bindings on the same form as the sides you will be off set since the bindings are inset a good 2mm or so. So yeah a hot pipe can get you really close and then some good strong tape, rope, or rubbers will get you there. |
