Hey guys, Buffed out Build #5 today, my first cutaway. I used Shanes Lutz Spruce for the top, Black Walnut for the back and sides. Bending the cutaway on a pipe bender was just cruel....have ordered the Fox bender from John... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Hesh! Here is a shot of the rosette - very simple rope with BWB purfling inside and out: ![]() |

Thanks Chuck and Mike, For the top I hit it with a wash of amber aniline dye before the shellac coat. Was going to try a sunburst but chickened out after doing a few test passes on practice wood.... Rob |

Thank you for your kind comments! Although my eye drifts to those little spots of imperfection ......you know what I mean.....hahaaa! Waddy, the guitar has a nice full balanced sound and amazing volume for a L-00 size body. For sure it is all about the Lutz.... ![]() |

Thanks Stephen, I started (exactly one year ago) and built 2 classicals out the gate. I wanted to do a steel string and realized the L-00 body was almost identical to the Hauser. So I used my Hauser templates and molds and built 3 steel strings - with the classical in mind - unbound fretboard, no dots (there are micro-dots on the side) I have changed my pattern slightly (rounder lower bout) and will build a classical cutaway next - with a Lutz top |
