Hi Guys I posted on the last what is happening in you shop by Hesh that these guitars were lacquered but I had no photos. Here are some of the Bubinga OMC Manzer style wedge and the 12 fret 000, the lacquer is applied and now I am waiting for it to cure before the wet sanding and buffing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fred |

Nice guitars...I especially like the Bubinga.....but with my eyes, I'd be scraping the sides to nothing trying to get the waves out. Truly a cool illusion to the eyes. kent The magic of wood. |

Looking great Fred and it looks like you have been a busy builder! Looking at the "T" inlay in the headstock I see absolutely no gaps or filler which would easily show using a lighter colored wood. Very nice inlay work too!!! Congrats bro! |

Thanks guys these are # 6 and 7 and the task of building gets easier each build. I fell in love with the Bubinga from Uncle Bob at the OLF swap and bought 2 sets, the other is curly and I liked it a little better but decided to use this set 1st as I had heard so many horror stories about bending Bubinga, Supersoft to the rescue and it was not that bad. Quote: Looking at the "T" inlay in the headstock I see absolutely no gaps or filler which would easily show using a lighter colored wood. Very nice inlay work too!!! Hesh I made a small high speed air grinder setup similar to what John Hall sells, I did the 12 fret 1st as practice with the new tool and it worked so much better than the Dremel with StewMac base I used in the past that I decided to use the bubinga overlay, my original plan was to use ebony. The cutter tool was easy to make and does so much better of a job, between the lighter weight and the 2 or 3 times higher RPM it cut like going through butter and was so much easier to handle. Fred |

Great looking guitars, Fred. The bubinga looks a lot different from when I saw it in Plymouth a couple months ago. Gonna be a real knock-out when she's all finished and put together. Best regards, Max |

Not sure which I like better... the bubinga really sings but the little 12-fretter is such a lovely shape... Really nicely done! |

Very nice Fred! Your choice of bindings is excellent. I really like the dark bindings in contrast to the Bubinga. The shot of the back really shows this. The Curly Maple bindings on the IRW look great also. I'll be anxious to see them finished and hear how they sound. |

They look great Fred. Nice wood choices. (Is the first ebony bound...looks terrific with the abalone.) I've been thinking about treating myself to one of those inlat tools (..course, if someone could tell me how to MAKE one, well...... ![]() |

Peter the Ebony on the bubinga was a no brainer I wet the wood and laid the binding strip on the back and got the bender out. The Bubinga darkened a little more than I expected under the finish and it looks even better with the black. I have use Curly maple on 5 of my 7 and Ebony on the other 2. Fred |

Wow, nice work Fred! I'm still trying to achieve that level of finish straight off the gun. It'd sure make level sanding and rubbing out a less onerous task! |

Well done Fred! I still can't believe you did a cutaway with that Bubinga! I remember reading your post when you first bent those sides and thought, "Wow!" We'll have to arrange a get together so we can see these before you ship them off! Nice to have them all sprayed and curing, eh? (notice my adept use of Canadian ![]() Good show! Ken |
