When you glue down braces with HHG in the go-bar deck, how long do you need to leave them clamped before you can remove the go-bars and glue down the next braces?

It would seem that since it glues as it cools down they wouldn't need to be clamped too long, and you could get on to the next ones. Which would be another advantage of HHG, but I don't want to be too quick.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe...Sounds like you need more gobar sticks! [:Y:]

To answer your question, I leave HHG braces clamped for 4 hours generally. More importantly, I like to always have the braced plate forced into its dome until ready to glue to the rims.

Joe, I spring my braces into the solera, which is dished out, like your dish, but like John, I like to leave them overnight, since they are under some tension. I have heard, or read, not sure which, that if it's under tension it should be left for 8 hours, if not, 4 hours is plenty. I have even done additional work on some items in about 2 hours, and have not had a problem, but they were not under tension.

OK, thanks for the quick replies John and JJ.

Yes, I do need to make up some more go-bar sticks, but more importantly, and much harder to do is not rush things! :D This bracing pattern I've been using lately has longitudinal tone-bars that need to be shaped before the ladder braces that bridge over them go on, so I get impatient.

It's not like I don't have several projects going, so I'll just shift gears.

Thanks again,
Joe

Like clamps one can not have enough go bars.

I like to leave them on overnight just to be sure.

I came across a good idea while my temporary spray booth is up, I put a 1200 watt heater in there to see what would happen and it took the temperature up from 65 to 85 degrees F in about 20 minutes. The booth is just plastic drop sheets stapled to the ceiling like a large shower stall. I usually take the plastic down when not being used but I am thinking it will become a hide glue warm room when needed. The only issue was the humidity drops, but I am thinking a small humidifier along with the heater will work.
