I'm refinishing a 2005 Martin D-28.

Which tuners should be installed on this guitar, i.e., what is correct for the original? The ones someone installed previously are junk.

This pawn-shop special was bum-ugly, but played and sounded very good. Whoever tried to "restore" this poor waif should be slapped sideways. Think ugly shellac, and it was worse then that.

It's been a resurrection of sorts - it's starting to look pretty decent. 8-)

Thanks for your replies. You folks are awesome.

You can get the originals for Martin through the Guitar Makers Connection. John at Blues Creek Guitars probably has them too. If you want an upgrade use Waverly.

Arnie - hope you took photos of your restoration job - we'd all love to see 'em when you get time!

Cheers,
Dave F.
