Filippo I would get the one for the big fretwire. It will be a bit loose to get a clean cut on the smaller fretwire, but if you can slip a small strand of copper wire in there as a shim it might work like a charm. If shimming doesn't work it would be back to the file or buy the other one. Steve |

I bought the medium size a few years ago. I use Stewmac's medium fretwire on guitars and narrow on ukuleles. It trims both sizes fine. This is one of the few dedicated "luthier tools" that I would definitely buy again |

I like (and have bought) a lot of Stew-Mac's stuff but I made my own nippers from a Radio Shack sheet metal nibbler several years ago and it's still going strong. For $47 bucks I could make 3 of them. |

I also made one - only took about 5 minutes with a Dremel cutoff wheel |

I made one from a Harbor Freight nipper. I need to deepen the slot, but it works fine too. I do, however, have to use it only in one direction, or it will bend the fret slightly. I think I was less than perfect in my grooving of the plate. I think the nipper, itself, was less than $5.00. |
