Is Snakewood ok for:
1. Fretboards, bridges, bindings etc
2. The grain direction is hard to see on it. Is it ok flat sawn for any these applications?

Thanks

I'd use it quartered as possible for bridges and boards and I'd think it would bend better on the quarter for binding with the grain running vertical like in braces. At least that's my guess. :)

I have personally never used Snakewood, but it seems that as long as you know what you're doing, you can use it for anything...

Mark... you can use it for alot of purposes. Just remember, flat sawn shows off the figure and it is hard enough to used either way.

Thanks for the tips. When I look at this stuff I wonder how anyone bends it. Here is a shot of a small peice for a wedge.

I'm finishing up a build now with snakewood bindings. Bent five pieces (just in case) and had no problems.
