Post subject:  Holly Bindings - Where - PICS?

Hello All,

I've got a guitar I'm working on now where the customer wants holly bindings, any suggestions on where to get Holly bindings? Anybody have any pictures of Holly bindings on a completed guitar. This guitar has Cuban mahogany B&S with spruce top.

Thanks,

Nice southerner who has Holly in banding from a tree he had to take down.

I think he is a member here as well.

I've used holly binding and it is great. No bending required at all using .080" thick bindings. Looks better than plastic and adheres better. Will use again and again. [:Y:]

Here's some pics of a recent Brazilian Rosewood Dreadnaught with Red Spruce and holly bindings all around including peghead and fingerboard. I love this stuff!!!

Steve: The holly has a very sharp white color.Always liked a white binding but never wanted to use plastic. This looks fantastic,is this typical or is this above average....?

If the stark white of holly is too much for you and/or you are afraid it might go gray on you one, and if aged ivory is more to your liking, check out cheesewood. Tim Spittle carries it. He sent me a sample of it and without finish it has that slightly aged ivory look. I think it will be fantastic under finish.

If any of you guys from Down Under have used it and have a picture it it, would you post it please?

Tom,

I have a really, really nice and clear piece a customer found a couple years back and I bartered him out of it. Mine is perfectly white or off-white. Up close its actually a little more ivory looking. The flash made it look really, really white. I think you can get pieces as clear and nice as mine, however.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
