Nice pics Todd. I also recall similar stories as a kid in east-central PA (near John Hall) and the joyously long sled runs through the streets. There were some memorable classic Chicago blizzards (late 70's) as well where drifts piled snow as high as second floor windows...unfortunately I have no pics to share. Thanks for posting.

WOW! Maybe Vanoc officials can figure out a way to get some of that snow out here in Vancouver for the "Summer" olympics starting in 6 days. There's no snow here. They are suffling snow from higher mountains with some snow pack to some of the venue sites for snowboarding and freestyle skiing.

I should add, outside my shop the crocuses are blooming as well as the daffodils eek

Outside of my shop is mud. Got a lot of rain here but no snow this time. Folks up the road in W. VA got blasted I here.

We just got 50" of the wettest snow ever, took 4 days to fall. Power was out for the two towns of Mount Shasta and McCloud, they said 9000 had their power out, Mount Shasta pop. 5000, McCloud, 3000, how about that math. It took 2-4 days for power to be restored.

One picture out our window shows the snow against a standard storage locker door, the bucket of the plow finally getting us out. The other picture is actually my shop, the way the wind blows I get these unfortunate overhangs of snow in front of the door. I have to shovel that down first. This was last week for us, your turn.

Our house is an apartment that is above a mini storage yard. The shop is currently 3 units in a row with some panels removed to make doors inside. I will have a real indoor shop again soon, with power for all my toys.

I did do some work during the power outage with a flashlight, I pretended I was a builder in old time Cremona working by oil lamp.

It is sunny and cold with wind but no snow in Windsor On. due south of Detroit. I love the snow missing us again, but I am sure it will be our turn to get buried soon enough.

I wanted to get outside to do some sanding and buy some magnets from radio shack, but that looks unlikely.

I know what you mean Fred. We've had about 2" of snow all season! I keep saying "move to Canada, the weather's great!"

This is my front and side and deck - lots of snow - I had to clear a path where the grass was for my daschund to do his business. This is from 10am on Saturday morning. I am about 19 miles north of Washington DC. We have a little over 26" now - my best estimate.

Great rant Todd, my favorites with the mound of snow on the roof, the white out behind them as the snow comes off the roof while driving, and then the favorite is when the mound of snow buries the windshield when the brakes are hit and they have to stop and get out to clear it. It sure is pretty to watch from home with some hot coffee, as long as the heat or power are still on.

I checked the humidifiers in the shop , my farmer neighbor cleared the lane and parking area . I made another pot of coffee and put a fire in the fireplace . We have 12 inches of snow. I am planning to take a nap. I think it is a good day for that .
Central PA , we were to get 3 to 6 and ended up with 12 to 14 .

It snowed/sleeted hard for 8 full hours on Wednesday here.... but it was like 35* so not a drop stuck to the ground... If it would have been cold -- we would have gotten 7-10" of snow/sleet.

Then, Thursday/Yesterday -- another 4" of rain... "Outside" is very soaking wet right now... and the creek out back is *WAY* up... but no worries.

Here in NW Louisiana it stays wet. All I have is wet slippery leaves in my driveway(haven't been motivated enough to rake them up, how long does it take for them to decompose?). I've been here about seven years and I haven't seen any snow worth mentioning but we do get our of share tornado's and flooding in this area and also weather from the hurricanes down south. I don't miss snow and bitter cold weather, I had enough of that when I lived up north.

24 inches here in Front Royal. I shoveled the snow way from the door just enough so that I could get out and take some pics. Here are a few.

Needless to say, we won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Now to pray that we don't lose electrical power. Not just for us, but all of those in the middle of this mess. Everyone stay safe.

I don't know about you Rod, but we logged the warmest January on record, (since 1881?). It's flirting with hitting 60 again today.

I was at Meade during '93. At some point Ryan asked why did it always snow on Fridays. He was right, we had three blizzards and 6 weeks in a row of snow. That was the first time I had ever been on an installation where they actually closed the post. The parking lots had snow mounds that were as high as the loaders could make them, taking up at least a 1/4 of most lots.

Have to go back out to enjoy the sunshine and finish putting the heater core in the truck. Then the suspension has to be done before it can be driven. One of these days I'll be able to get back into the shop and work with wood instead of a wrench. [uncle]

Not bad here in Illinois... we got the rain... sleet.. ice, then snow yesterday and lastnight. Sunny and warming here now but still enough snow for some fun.

I'd love to be able to share some pictures - 26" at our house and still climbing. But my wife and I are in Granada, Spain for the winter and spring. The kids are home (one at home, one at school in Newark, and one at school in DC) peering out over the drifts.

Injecting some guitar - a local flamenco guitarist and singer who lives two doors away played my guitar to us for two hours last night. That was a real treat, and the hardest workout I've ever heard one of my guitars get.

We had 22" here in SW Pa. The forecast called for 8" to 12" so I didn't bother bringing the tractor (which has a snow plow) up to the house last night, what a mistake! Now it is not possible to get the old Masey Ferguson up the hill to plow the driveway. I had to shovel it by hand, with the help of my wife...our driveyway is over 250 feet long! So much for the forecasters.
