Bondo has bailed me out many times in woodworking in many ways. I hate it, I love it. This is a use that is a little different from the standard use as filler. viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=25876&p=348524#p348524 |

What is the purpose of the Bondo mold that the wood pattern you make it from won't serve? Sorry to be so thickheaded. James |

James Burkett wrote: What is the purpose of the Bondo mold that the wood pattern you make it from won't serve? Sorry to be so thickheaded. James The pattern I make it from is the outside mold, and I use the bondo to make the inside shape for a bending mold. Chris Paulick's tutorial shows how to use router guides to go from that outside mold to the bending mold shape without bondo. Without the proper bits and router guides that Chris used, this method allowed me to end up with a bending mold that is 1/8" smaller then the outside mold at the exact shape. It avoids one round of hand shaping on the spindle sander, which I am not great at, certainly my results with the bondo are more accurate then I could do with a spindle sander. I did finish them up today, and they did come out right on. Hope that clears something up. Rob |
