I would like to cut out some plexiglass templates. The plexiglass is about 1/4". Will this cause problems with the blade? Should I change to an old blade that I keep as a spare? Thanks Richard |

I use polycarbonates for jig material and the band saw and router don't appears to have issues with cuttting. There are some many plexiglas products I can't venture to answer your question and can only offer the following wed site. http://www.plexiglas.com/expert/ |

Yeper plexiglass is brittel and will often fracture when cut or machined. Polycarbonates like Lexan are better suited for cut and machined parts. |

I recommend a bi-metal blade for cutting plexiglass. A 1/4" - 10 - 14 tooth variable blade works fine. |

nah, switch to your new blade. old dull blades generate too much heat -always your enemy when cutting plastic. select a blade pitch that places at least 2 teeth into the cut (material thickness), blow some air on it and cut away. |
