I made this is 2005 for a good friend. It was my first KTM project and I sprayed way too thick, making an opaque mess which eventually caused me to strip the finish off the back. I used an orbital sander, got impatient and sanded through the back strip at the heel, which was to thin to start with. I really didn't want to replace the strip which would have ruined the miters at the other end, and with my state of mind, who knows what else. ( It was a really nice EIR set I had had for over 20 years.) I grabbed a piece of abalone and went to work- I knew it was a big chance. When I finally presented it to the owner I omitted the origin of the detail and said something about "adding a little eye candy"- and he loved it. It came back for a neck adjustment last week and I thought I would share the story. I apologize for the blurry photo.... |

Nice job on the mistake! It looks really cool, a good idea. It's kind of like when inventors find stuff out by accidents and mistakes. |
