Hey all,

I posted this over at the AGF, but in case some don't get over there....

This one is a 000 size with a 24.9 scale. Scalloped sitka bracing, port oxford cedar kerfing. Black walnut, with englemann top, maple binding, B/W/B/W purfling, ebony fretboard and bridge. The few accents and the fretbord markers are black pearl. Enjoy, and all comments very welcome.

Chris.

Great job. It looks like you spent some time getting everything to fit just right, especially the peak of the headstock relative to the center line of your neck. I like the two for the price of one fret markers concept. Have you tried that before?

Chris: Real nice looking work,no doubt this will be a very nice sounding guitar.Happened to notice your top is glued to the tail block for the full width of the block. Some folks like to releave the block except for the width of the lining to give just a bit more vibrating area.Maybe you have already considered that had it's of no concern to you. Again great guitar.

Hi, Chris,

That's a great looking guitar. I'm not usually a fan of the appearance of laminated necks, but yours looks great with your binding scheme, and with the position markers. Very harmonious wood choices and nicely integrated overall look to my eyes!

Thanks for looking, everybody. Bob, the double position markers are only at the 12th fret, although I think it could be interesting to use two at each position, maybe closer together. Next time, maybe. Tom, that's actually the first I'd heard about relieving the neck block where it contacts the top. Likely I will leave them contacting the top all the way, in the interest of strength.

Man that looks great! Just curious, do you install pickups in your guitars? The tailblock looks like it might be verging on too thick for a jack to bolt through. I wish my third guitar was that clean!

So far, acoustic only. I guess if I intended a pickup, I'd have to measure depth of the tailblock to insure it was OK. Thanks for mentioning this, I learn something everyday in this pursuit.

Very nice work Chris and one of the many things that caught my eye and impressed me is your neck to body joint - excellent and not all that easy to do well either.

Great job!!! Congrats!!!

Chris: Not the neck block, but the heel block or tail block. The extra area other then the same width as the lining is not needed. This is not something that is real important but just one small thing in the whole context of the build.Again no doubt this guitar will be great. Nice job.

Nice. I am working on my first build and looking at pictures like this gives me hope, then I go back to shop, and that "hope" lasts for a few seconds!

Thanks all. Tom, I misunderstood you, heel block makes sense. Next time.
