Post subject:  Visit to America

G'day everyone,

I have a good friend here in Australia who is visiting America in about two months time. He is a cabinet maker by trade and a very fine furniture maker. He has become very interested in lutherie due to watching some of my projects grow into instruments. He is going to start is first build shortly.

The trip will have him staying in La Bampf and Las Vegas.

Does anyone know if there are any guitar factories, forum luthiers, wood venders who would be willing to give him a little of there time and show their instruments? Or anything else guitar orientated that is a got to be seen when you visit?

Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers

Alan

Hi Alan,

Your friend may be interested in grabbing a car and driving a bit south (4 hrs or so) to Phoenix. Fender guitars has a fairly good presence down here, as well as Phoenix Guitar Company (contact George Leach) and better yet the Roberto Venn School of Luthiery in So Phoenix (John Reuter director of training). Oh, almost forgot Al Inteso of AI Guitars in Mesa. Roberto Venn is a great place to see luthiery in all stages of the learning process. George and Diana are two very friendly folks, and is the case with everyone I have met in this field, exceptionally open to sharing information. I ran into Al at a buddy of mines shop awhile back, and he is always open for a visit to his operation.

I hope this helps,

Regards,

Dave
