| Post subject: | Over reamed bridge pin hole |
So I reamed a bridge pin hole a bit too much. Not too bad. After countersinking, it has a slight wiggle when bottomed out in the hole. Im using plain old ebony pins, so my though was to brush some superglue on the pin to make it a bit wider. My first though was to brush some fish glue, but I think that would run the risk of gluing itself in there is it heats up too much at some point in its life. I did a quick search in the archives and didn't see anything. Anyone have any tricks? |

I would plug them and re drill them. Seriously! Or maybe find slightly larger pins. As for the super glue it won't become sticky because of heat. Once it dries it is very stable and does not risk the chance of gumming up like some glues can. I would buy a couple sets of pins thru Grizzly and then check for the ones that are the biggest... LMI and Stew Mac's pins are cut to pretty close tolerances.. Not so with Grizzly.... I used a set of their pins in Esteban... and I had to fit each pin hole separately. The smallest pins wobble around in the biggest pins holes! Thanks John |

My first thought would be to try all of your other pins in this hole to see if any of them would fit. Sometimes they're just slightly off and you just might get lucky and have a better fit with another pin. If that doesn't work, I'd try buying some oversized pins as others have stated. |

I think I'll try superglue. Didnt think of dipping it, good idea. I'm not worried about having one pin bigger. It should be easy to tell, or I'll mark it. If that fails I'll go for the oversized Stew-Mac pins. I dont remember seeing those before. |

Zach, if it's a close fit perhaps you could try to wet the bridge pin in hopes it might expand enough to stay tight. I have found this trick to also work well with wooden end pins. |
