I am making this guitar for a customer. My second sale bliss . ok. He askt me to make him a J-45 copy. I said NO, dont really want to make copies of another mans work, kinda hmm. well. So I made him a few ideas based on the J-45 outline but made it mine. (as I see it now, I want to alter a few things, like making th lower bout a little wider etc. etc. But the J-45 is not ever 16" and this one is 16" at lower bout so I am already a tad over ! . There are a few other things I altered to have it sounding the way I consider has become "my sound to it" thickness of top, bracing etc. so I am not sure on how much it compares to a J-45. But he wanted it after having listened to my other guitars. bla bla bla. :D
I have to thank Ken Franklin for the rosette idea. Allthough it ain´t very good photos ! cellphone shots. BRZ/Coco/ as squares and Koa as circles. Not perfect at all to my thurral looking eyes. but a good learning progress in this way of making rosettes. I also threw in a shot of my next cocobolo back.

all inputs are welcomed. Do please let me know if you see anything I need to think of for the next one.

Lars,

I like your version of the Dread shape. Watch out, trying to make rosettes like Ken Franklin is as addicting (and frustrating) as guitar building.

Lars, looks great. Like Steven said the body shape is really cool and I especially love the headstock back as well.

Lars, I'll just repeat what everyone else has said. I think your standard guitar shapes are beautiful, and I respect the way you have taken the J-45 shape and adjusted it to your own creative instinct. I am certain this will be an excellent guitar. Congratulations on another customer! Press on, and show us some pictures of the finished instrument!

Lars, I was scanning the photos before I read the post and admiring the rosette and guitar shape before I realized that you mentioned me. No wonder I liked it. ;) Keep up the good work! As others have said your skills are definitely improving. [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

I really like the headstock!!!

Could you include a picture of the back of the guitar?? You showed us the back uninstalled but no back on the guitar.

Any movement on your farm?

Thank you all.
Ken: well I guess I used a bit to similar colours coc/brz on the squares so it dont show up that well also some other things I dont like "wrong purf" in my eyes. learned a lot though. but next time it will be perfect hehe.

I will fix some shots of the back to as soon as she´s put together, right now i am doing the finish on her. :D

Woodsworth: I copied what I replied recently on the farm post.- below you can read it.

Unfortunately I never got the house. all was like set and ready, they askt me to drive up to the house 2 huers drive away to meet with me and all the bank people right there by the farm. so we met and all was great, Looks real good Lars were the last words. So I though all was a done deal. then 2 days later some guy from some place I never heard of before called and said "sorry" but you need to put in more money yourself. So, no deal. hmmm well there is a meaning for everything and I guess It was not ment to be. So I am happy. But now working on another budget plan for the next bank so I can start my business ideas elsewhere.
Next time I will wait with the posting before it really is a "done deal" .

Thanks for all the support though. its great to know I have you here my friends and I really hope to meet you all one day soon.

Lars.

Sorry i didn't catch that update... When you don't post to something you don't get e-mail updates, and i've been very busy lately. Sorry about the farm, Looked like a phenomenal property. Some how these things work out so i'll just assume a better deal is waiting for you around the corner, one with less upkeep by the way...

Can't wait to see the guitar ping with finish.

Swedish Breaking News. Budding luthier Lars Stahl takes Sweden by storm. Great work . Really like you rosette, headstock and you logo is outstanding. I'm having a hard time coming up with something for myself. My woodworking skills are OK but my artistic skills pfft . You just may have found your calling.

Cheers,
Danny

Post subject:  Re: My latest in progress photos. :-)

Thanks a million my friends. Really happy to hear you like my logo. Its a pain to cut it out though haha. also something I am hoping to improve on :D .
The neck is a 3 part neck. ala´cumpiano. "kinda".
Sxxlmxn The neck dont take long to do, perhaps 4-5 huers total I would guess. (not counting to make the fretboard) A lot of time goes to waiting for the glue to harden and to make the final touches on it.

Danny I´m not sure I´m the man for the job, but if you want me to, then send me your ideas on a logo (the name you want a logo for) or what you had in mind and I could have a look at it and see If I could come up with something cool for you. would just be happy to be able to out.

After seeing another Lars beautiful creation....I think I'll stop building guitars and stick to carving. All of you Luthiers are so talented and create such fine looking instruments. I wish I could afford to own one from everyone.
