I just got a very nice set of Koa (Thanks Brock). What differences would you use for a Koa sound board. Thickness? Bracing?
Bridge plate? Please share you experience and knowledge.

Thanks!

I have built 12 all Koa guitars and 4 Rosewood/ Koa tops. Being a hardwood they tend to be thinner than Spruce but not by as much as you would think. It of course will vary from top to top, bracing and body size but they have run from .088"-.110"

Hey Steve,
I know you were looking forward to getting that koa.... Have you decided what you're going to make with it? I'm sure the treatment of the koa top will depend on whether it's a dread, jumbo, or OOO/OM...

OK guys, what style do you think is best suited to this material? Koa has a reputation for being "midrangey" so I'm thinking short scale 000.

I welcome your comments and suggestions.

I think that is a safe range . I use about .105 but that is before sanding
