Hi, This is my first cut-away. An OM size guitar. Honduran Mahogany B&S and neck Sitka top Bocote segmented rosette EIR fretboard, bridge, binding & headplate EVO frets...I like this stuff! Schaller openback tuners. Best sounding one I've built yet.... I plan on making a wood pickguard for it. I'm thinking of EIR for that also. Any suggestions?? Thanks for looking! Jeff |

That's a nice looking guitar Jeff. Do you have any pics of the back? Would you attribute the improved tone over previous builds to the Honduran back and sides or improved building? |

It looks real good, I love the dark binding contrast with the Mahogany. What did you use for it, I can't tell from the pictures? I am helping a friend do a Mahogany OM and he is at the point on deciding on a binding, so we have been exploring what to use. Fred |

J Hewitt wrote: I plan on making a wood pickguard for it. I'm thinking of EIR for that also. Any suggestions?? Jeff I have one--don't do it. That from my own experience of making EIR pickguards. They look fine enough, but will always compete visually with your rosette. I believe you would have more of a tug-o-war at that critical place than a nice warm woody vibe. Other than the aesthetic consideration: I put mine on with contact cement, not white glue as I. Sloane recommends. I wanted it to be able to flex just ever so little when the top wanted to move at a different rate. Steve P.S.- fine looking guitar. I second the motion for a view of the back. |

Ken, I can't really say about the tone for sure as this is the first time I have used it for B&S....I hope it is that I may be getting better at my building....the back is nothing fancy but I posted a photo. ChuckB.....the finish is EM6000 Fred....the binding is EIR Steve....thank you to for your opinion on the pickguard....I'm still undecided whether to put one on or not? And to the rest of you for all the nice comments!! Thanks, Jeff |

Dang...all you guys make nice guitars. Another nice post! I'm in the middle of a OM and OOO cutaway. Hope to be done in a few weeks. Seeing these newly completed guitars always makes me work harder. Kent |

Jeff, That is very nicely done. A guitar that good looking deserves a clear pickguard IMHO. Tim |

Fabulous build! I am really looking forward to when I can manage a finish even half as nice as that. ![]() And to second Oregon47 (heh...another Oregonian? Cool)...go with a clear pick guard. That great rosette should be getting all the attention a colored guard would steal. ![]() |

Good work Jeff. I agree with my Bro regarding the pickguard. I am also of the opinion that it may inhibit the top a little, perhaps noticably. John |
