If you own this unit could you tell me if on the electircal specifications if it is only 120 or
120/ 240. If so it could be run in the UK as well. If not it can't be... [headinwall]

I'm wondering why someone would make that device and not let it decide whether you need to humidify or dehumidify. If I have to change it, why would I spend money on it?.......................................................................

I'm wondering why someone would make that device and not let it decide whether you need to humidify or dehumidify. If I have to change it, why would I spend money on it? My humidifier has a control on it, and my dehumidifier has a control on it. I leave them both on during variable times of the year when I get swings in both directions. From Spring through Fall though, I only have to dehumidify.

Here's a device that is worth a look. It's settings correlate very well with the sling psychrometer and it's a hell of a lot more accurate and reliable than the automatic control on my humidifier. Terry...a few questions about the controller please: 1) How long have you had this unit? If over a year, have you been able to confirm its accuracy in both humid and dry conditions? 2) Is the unit capable of being calibrated by the user or does the manufacturer have it locked in? I have been slinging my homemade psychrometer for 2 years and continually monitor and correct the typically inaccurate digital hygrometers. It would be nice to have to only check this annually and forgo the monthly "slinging sessions" ( I actually use a fan to evaporate the wet bulb). TIA...and thanks again for posting this.

It's microprocessor controlled and as such subject to the same error rate as a digital hygrometer or any device such as a humidifier or dehumidifier with a digital humidostat... This company makes products for indoor growing enthusiasts who are into hydroponics. The model number is "THC-1"...

From Spring through Fall though, I only have to dehumidify. - For the most part, I find that I need to run the dehumidifier or the humidifier, depending on the time of year, but generally, not both at the same time of the year. The control on my dehumidifier works well, but the one on my humidifier is awful. I have to constantly adjust it, so was looking for something that would be more accurate for the humidifier.

I've only had it a week. Winter in MN, so humidification only. So far it has been spot on with my sling psychrometer but time will tell. The humidifier runs more but for a shorter period of time. It clicks it on at the setting and shuts off when it gets 5% higher. The control on my actual humidifier had much greater swings and sometimes would get stuck on or off. I would guess that's par for the course on almost any non-industrial room humidifier. One time I was gone for the weekend and came back to a shop that was at almost 70%. Time will tell how reliable this thing proves to be over the long haul but it's good out of the gate. I'll report back in a year. Terry

They don't stay in the houses they grow in so the environmental controls have to be spot on. To bad they don't sell something like that here.

My seasonal needs are for one or the other but not both so it would suit me. Others may need a device that can automatically switch which would need a few more parts.

Seems like it would be pretty simple. Humidity goes above 50, turn on the dehumidifier, below 40 turn on the humidifier. It just needs a second plug and an automatic switch. I realize that's waay over simplified!

My Ventasonic humidifier does an excellent job of maintaining the humidity within a percentage or two of exactly where I want it, using its own control. It's very sensitive and accurate, turning itself on and off as needed (often running for less than a minute at a time). Once it's turned on and set at the beginning of the humidification season, all I ever have to do is refill its tank every few days, and it does the rest.

I have a Humidifier and a Dehumidifer, both running at the same time in AUTO mode. I have them set a few % points of each other to accomplish a neutral point. If it falls below/over the preset one of them automatically kicks in....
