A friend of mine brought his guitar over, an all mahogany dread cutaway. He has somehow managed to really traumatize the treble side of the lower bout - on the side of the guitar. See pics. I've got some ideas as to the best way to go about this but I would love to hear from some experienced repair folk. It's been really dry here lately (and no I don't think this is a dry crack - this is a I think he tried to beat his girlfriend crack - joke) so the guitar is now in my guitar room getting re-acclimated. Thanks! Chris ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The crack its self is pretty straight forward. use HHG would be my choice. I looks as it it will close failry simply. the side bracing maneed some attention as well. |

Chris it's hard to tell from here but it looks like they used side tapes on this one and it also looks like the cracks ran right through at least one tape, probably more. Can you tell if this is the case and can you tell if the crack stops at a tape location? I'm just curious if the tapes were any help at all on this one. What Michael said on using HHG and the cracks look pretty clean to me too. Thanks |

this isn't side tapes but a wooden side support . This isn't that hard of a fix. HHG or CA. If done well you can get this repair pretty tight and clean. |

Hesh I haven't even taken the strings off of it yet. It's just sitting in the wood room waiting. The guy that owns it really doesn't pay much attention to where he leaves it, or handles it for that matter. I'll get a good look at the inards once the strings are off. Thanks for the replies guys. |
