I have that saw but with a cast iron table it is a good saw. could have a stonger motor but it is not bad and has served me well for some 6 years now. Granite is nice but in the adds i have seen for it I have not seen a flatness tolerance listed.

I agree - pretty good saw, and the arbor recall has taken care of a couple saws that got by the factory QC without heat treated shafts. With the riving knife, and the larger (1-3/4" motor), plus a pretty decent fence, it looks like a bargain.

Re: tables - I had just picked up a couple aluminum 48" rules for fret templates (I pick the straightest ones...the tool guys laugh), and had my 24" precision straightedge with me when shopping...I saw what looked like no more than a .005 dip in one of the wings of the floor sample, and less than that diagonally across the main table...the dip could have been the assembly job, but overall, the table looked pretty decent. Only looked at one, so YMMV.

nice thing about the saw is the size of the box looks doable for a medium sized SUV (Pilot, etc.) or small PU truck.

Cheers,

Todd

It took 3 guys to lift it into my truck bed (cast Iron table) I took it out by my self..............me and 4 come-alongs and 2 A frames that is laughing6-hehe

I stopped on my way home from work. The guy in the tools dept said he sold his last one last week and checked all 9 store in the Milwaukee area. All gone.

If any of you find the Milwaukee 12" Miter/Slider saw and do not want it, please contact me. Both the Miter and granite saw are sold out in my area.

Thanks!

mine was 299 minus a 10 % veterans discount, 289 with tax. put in the bed of my truck with a forklift. had to disassemble the crate to get it out of the truck. had a metal frame welded around it, bolted down. would have been easier if the granite top wasnt bolted down ( or lighter i should say) there were 2 at our local home depot, i appearently got the last one

I guess these things are not selling well. Thats a big price drop. My home depot still has the one they had and the tables cracked now after sitting there all this time.

I totally agree Filippo. Ask the guys in the tool section about tools and they have no idea what you are talking about. Mention a task you need to do and what might be the best tool for the job and either they don't carry the tool or even understand the problem.

It was not always the case. And their wood? Please. Have to sort through 15 2x4s just to find one that cannot be used for an auger.

Speaking of good deals, I hear Sears has 20% Bing cashback. I have not verified it, but it sure is making the rounds on the Web.

I agree 100% with Filippo- Home Depot's inventory control is virtually non-existent. I find all sorts of
friendly people, but only 70-80% of the stuff I came to buy. And I have to check every small item to
make sure it's what I want, since re-stocking seems to be "just stuff it into any box that has items
that look anything like this". Lowe's used to be better, but as their sales have come up, they're starting
to suffer the same problem. My local Ace hardware is 25% more expensive, but they're much closer to
me, much better stock control, and real (knowledgeable) people to help me. Plus radio's on every person,
to get the right person to me quickly. I spend more and more of my money there...

The home depots in my area once were staffed with a cashier and a sales associate in the tool section. They are no both gone and it's now help your self and take it to the registers up front.
