I was admiring the Old 00 and then heard it was gone. Some how a feeling of loss came over me. So i got to thinking of how difficult it must be to get go of some of your creations when they are sold. I can't see it being just about money, or is it as simple as that? |

Yes - it is at least for me.... After spending well over 100 hours creating a new guitar its impossible for me to not get somewhat attached to each and every one. They are all learning experiences and often a specific guitar represents a specific learning experience in which something was perhaps difficult... an understatement... or represented growth or both. I suspect that at least for me if it was not difficult the activity would not be satisfying either. Good question Mark! ![]() |

When I build for a client, I consider that guitar to be theirs from the first moment I lay out and select the materials. The feeling I have when it's well completed, delivered and the customer satisfied is one of relief...............as well as satisfaction. On the occasion where I've produced guitars for myself, I usually have them around for a few years (depending on the use they fulfill) but inevitably they escape as well....no regrets, I want my instruments out in the real world making music. One of the best anecdotes I ever heard on this subject was when famed NYC classical guitar maker Manouk Papazian was asked what he liked best about making guitars: "The ring of the cash register" was his answer.............................. |

Now I can't play worth beans, so keeping them just doesn't do much for me. Its good to see them go to someone who will play the heck out of them, that's what they're for. What really gets me goin' is when I see one of mine being used to entertain a group, that is what it's all about. Thats the best....... |
